Over the festive season, Eastgate Shopping Centre hosted an extensive list of fun-filled activities, focusing on raising funds for charity in the true spirit of ‘giving back’. An amount of R314 081 was recently donated to four local charities including the Jo’burg Child Welfare Society, the Edu-care Foundation, the St. Giles Association and the Avalon Association.
Avalon Association and St Giles Association – homes for disabled adult persons – have been beneficiaries of Eastgate Shopping Centre for many years. Eastgate contributed R 120 000 towards each charity respectively, in recognition of the great work they continue to do.
During the festive season, 50 children from Jo’burg Child Welfare spent a morning at Eastgate Shopping Centre at the children’s Christmas activation – where they got to meet Santa. The shopping centre thanks Sausage Saloon, Hamleys and ToysRus for sponsoring the lunch and gifts that added to the festivities.
“We pay tribute to the selfless individuals who dedicate their lives in helping the less fortunate, the underprivileged and the disabled members of the community,” said Johan van Belkum, General Manager at Eastgate Shopping Centre.
“We hope that the donations will continue to lend aid and contribute to maintaining the many community initiatives that each of the associations support, in their respective environments”.
